While HTC phones have always looked “ok” in the past, the company’s new deal with San Francisco-based lifestyle design firm One & Co is set to change the image of future handsets.
An example of past HTC’s lack of aesthetics can be seen in the T-Mobile G1, which is very functional but just isn’t… pretty. Put it next to an iPhone in the TATE Art Gallery and I can tell you which handset the crowds would be gathered around.
One & Co has previous design experience ranging from footwear, snowboards, and furniture. Perhaps not very relevant credentials, but they did team up with HTC in the past to give birth to the HTC Touch Diamond which was arguably one of HTCs best looking handsets.
The Touch Diamond combined an innovative use of material and industrial design and looked superb.
After seeing what a beautiful marriage these companies have had in the past, it will be interesting to see their future offspring- top design and excellent functionality? I can’t wait.

Samsung's BizBee Phone Range
Samsung have taken a leaf out of RIM’s book by launching its own sub brand of messaging smartphones under the BizBee brand. While this has worked well for RIM with it’s popular Blackberry sub, I sense consumers will still be headding for the Samsung name before the newly born “BizBee”.
The Samsung BizBee range is designed to offer business connectivity and functionality wherever users happens to find themselves. Apart from allowing you to take phone calls, you can surf the web, read emails and work with documents on handsets in this range.
The first phone that Samsung have launched under the BizBee name is the Samsung BizBee i780, which is eerily similar to the Samsung i780 launched last year. It has been somewhat revamped though as it now comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
Like its predecessor, it still comes with a 320 x 320 pixel 2.6″ touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, HSDPA and GPS support.
Samsung plan to start its BizBee campaign before the new year, so if you’re in charge of IT procurement in your company, keep an eye out for these handsets.

o2 XDA Flint now available on o2 website
Remember the o2 XDA Flint we mentioned some months back? Well, it looks to have taken one step closer with this o2 page giving more details. It is, as we expected, the HTC Advantage handset which packs WiFi, GPS, 3 megapixel camera, 16GB of internal flash and the Opera browser.
The device has a detachable QWERTY keyboard and takes on a mini-laptop design with quad-band connectivity and a big 5" screen for easy document editing. The 2100 mAh battery has a 300 hour standby time and it's powered along by a Marvell PXA270 624Mhz CPU with an ATI Graphic chip.
Andrew (TheGadgetMan) has just emailed in to say that o2 have already contacted him to confirm availability, so if you're after one, call them up! :)
